OSHA does not take the winter off

What changes on a cold job site
- Freezing. Tank chemicals thicken and water lines freeze in deep cold. Winterized units with antifreeze keep the system working.
- Access for the crew and the truck. Units go where workers can reach them on a cleared path, and where our pump truck can still get in after a snow.
- Ice and footing. Steps and doors ice up. Regular service includes knocking ice off and keeping the approach safe.
- More frequent service. Cold conditions mean we check and service units more often so they keep performing through the season.
Placement that survives a storm
- Set units out of the wind and off low ground where snow drifts and blocks the door.
- Anchor or weight them so wind and storms do not tip them.
- Keep a clear, deiced path from the work area to the unit.
