Short-Term vs Long-Term

What is a short-term rental and what is a long-term rental?

Short-term rentals are a single day or a long weekend. They are typical for public events, private parties, weddings and gatherings. Weekend rentals usually drop Friday and come back Monday.

Long-term rentals are multiple weeks, months or years. They are typical for commercial job sites, contractors and home renovations. The units stay until the job wraps up.

Typical Rentals

What people rent them for

The first two are usually short-term. The last two are usually long-term.

SHORT-TERM 01

Public Events

Festivals, races, fairs and community events. If it’s a public event, keep in mind you’ll need an ADA unit, at least one in every spot where you group toilets.

Plan on 1 unit per 50 to 75 guests for an event under 4 hours.

SHORT-TERM 02

Private Parties and Weddings

Reunions, graduation parties, backyard weddings. Plan on about 1 unit per 50 to 75 guests for under 4 hours. Longer parties and parties with drinks need more.

On a lawn or pavers, put a containment tray underneath.

LONG-TERM 01

Commercial Job Sites and Contractors

New builds and commercial jobs run for months. We recommend 1 unit per 10 workers, and we add or pull units as the crew changes.

Trade accounts get Net 30 invoicing.

LONG-TERM 02

Home Renovations

A roof, a basement, an addition. The crew is there for weeks, so the unit stays and gets serviced on a schedule that makes sense for the job.

Tearing things out? If you need a dumpster too, we can do that as well.

What Else Do I Need

What comes with it, and what to add

Every rental includes ✓

  • Delivery and pickup
  • A unit cleaned and stocked before it arrives
  • Toilet paper and hand sanitizer
  • Long-term: service on a schedule or upon request
  • Add or pull units with a phone call

We always recommend ✓

  • Containment trays, to protect lawns and pavers
  • Hand wash stations, especially near food
  • An ADA unit for any public event
  • A dumpster if the job or event makes trash

We can facilitate it all. Standard units, ADA units, hand wash stations, containment trays, light haulers and trailer-mounted restrooms. See our full porta potty lineup.

Pricing

How much does a porta potty rental cost?

Pricing depends on the units, the length of the rental and the location. One standard unit for a weekend and three units with a hand wash station for a year are very different quotes.

Your quote is calculated for your exact address, travel included, so the number you get is the number you pay.

Common Questions

Short and long-term rental questions

What is a short-term porta potty rental?
A short-term rental is a single day or a long weekend. It is typical for public events, private parties, weddings and gatherings. Weekend rentals usually get Friday delivery and Monday pickup.
What is a long-term porta potty rental?
A long-term rental runs for multiple weeks, months or years. It is typical for commercial job sites, contractors and home renovations. More on job site rentals for contractors.
Can I rent a porta potty for one day?
Yes. A single day counts as a short-term rental. If it is within a week, give us a call so we can get it on the schedule.
Do short-term rentals need servicing?
Usually not. A short-term unit arrives cleaned and stocked and goes home when you are done. Big crowds or events that run more than a day can add a service visit. See porta potty servicing.
How often are long-term rentals serviced?
On a service schedule that makes sense for you, or upon request. We pump, disinfect, clean and restock depending on your need. More on servicing schedules.
How much does a porta potty rental cost?
It depends on the units, the length of the rental and the location. Your quote is calculated for your exact address, travel included, so the number you get is the number you pay.
How do I book a rental?
For short-term rentals within a week, please give us a call at 801-230-5045. If not, fill out this form and we’ll get in touch with you ASAP.
Does a public event need an ADA porta potty?
Yes. At least 5 percent of your units, and at least one in every cluster, must be accessible under the 2010 ADA Standards. Our ADA requirements guide covers the details.
How many units do I need?
For events, plan on 1 unit per 50 to 75 guests for under 4 hours. For job sites, we recommend 1 unit per 10 workers. Our porta potty calculator does the math.
Can I add or remove units during a long-term rental?
Yes. Scale up or down as your crew changes. Call and we will add, pull or move units.
Can you bring a dumpster too?
Yes. We can facilitate it all: toilets, hand wash stations, containment trays and a dumpster rental on the same job.
